How are you identifying and converting quiet quitters on your team? You know, those employees who aren’t fully engaged in their work or your company. A Gallup survey said that if you invest in your employee experience you can outperform your competitors by 4.2 times. You can move quiet quitters from the 50% of employees who are not engaged to the 18% who are. How?
Here’s a “Q-Tip” (Quitter Tip): Your managers must hold weekly 1:1 meetings with their direct reports for up to 30 minutes to gauge their engagement. Leaders must be intentional about having conversations with their team members and understanding them and their needs.Your success rate with this strategy increases if your senior leaders make this a priority and hold managers accountable for completing these check-ins.
Identifying and hiring tech talent is tough enough – but even tougher when you don’t know if you want to “recruit” talent or “acquire” it. “Recruiting” is a short-term, fast-fix strategy, like holiday coverage. “Acquiring” is a long-term solution for candidates with specific skills and abilities, cultural fits, and a desire for a career path. So you must know which way you want to go.
In a 2022 McKinsey survey, “Great Attrition, Great Attraction”, respondents cited a lack of career development and advancement as the single highest reason for leaving a job. The cost to an organization to replace an employee is nine months of salary. Considering this information, investment in your employees is the most fiscally responsible decision. Historically, pay and benefits were seen as enough of an investment by employees. That has shifted. Employees no longer believe pay is enough of an investment for their contribution to the growth and development of the organization. They’re looking for something more.
Here are three options for you to consider:
Recognize their unique ability and offer them a chance to use it on a project
Offer leadership or resiliency training
Pose mentorship or sponsorship opportunities
